How we can help you

Further details of the services we provide can be seen on this page and include:

  • Support with completing forms and writing letters

  • Facilities and support to contact government departments and companies

  • Developing or updating your CV and help with job applications

  • Access to, and help with using, computers, printers and scanner

If we are unable to help we may be able to signpost you to another agency that will be able to provide the help you need.

IT suite

We have three computers which are free to use during our drop-in sessions. These are in individual booths to allow some privacy and safety for clients, with adjustable high-backed office chairs. Our volunteers are happy to help anyone in using the computers if they are not confident in using technology.

We also have wireless printers that have copying and scanning facilities.

Our telephone can be used for contacting agencies and other organisations (eg. utility companies) and our volunteers can offer support in this.

These facilities are all free to use, although donations are always welcome from those who can afford it.

Benefits

We are able to undertake checks to determine whether you may be eligible for any government benefits (eg. Universal Credit, Attendance Allowance, Pension Credit) and help you in completing the relevant forms to make a claim.

We also have experience in supporting people to apply for Blue Badges, bus passes, getting a State Pension forecast and applying for the State Pension.

Support contacting agencies

Whilst we are unable to offer legal services, we are happy to work with you to write more formal letters to agencies and organisations as required.

Job hunting

Many of our volunteers have been or are in management positions and therefore we have a lot of experience in knowing what is a ‘good’ CV and job application.

We therefore can help you to develop or upgrade your CV. As many job applications are now made online, we can help job hunters to search and apply for positions online, uploading the necessary documents if required.

Crisis food

We have a good relationship with Westbury Area Network which runs the Westbury food bank.

Westbury Area Network sorts and distributes food for those in need from their centre in The Hub in Eden Vale Road, but have also issued Crosspoint with a small stock of food bags that can be issued if someone is hungry and in need of food outside the times that the food bank is open.

Westbury Area Network is open at The Hub on:

Mondays or Thursdays: 10.00am - 12.30pm.

Alternatively, those in need of food can phone 07780 072619.
